New windows fixes Tuesday, September 27, 2011, 05:29:53
Fixed: mouse/keyboard bug from thread [SOLVED] Windows: mouse unavailable when task switching in which alt-tabbing out of the game would freeze the mouse in the upper left corner of the screen. On the other side of the alt-tab the keyboard would no longer work inside the game. This was an issue with SDL and has been corrected.

Possibly fixed: Crashing at startup due to yet another dll. This time with the OpenAL dlls. Follow To: Windows users with sound issues to find the possible fix.

So, two bugs out of the way I hope. For those who can now play, have fun with beta 1!

Windows sound issues? Try this Friday, March 18, 2011, 23:47:37
It was brought up on the forum that some windows users are having issues with not hearing sounds or game crashes due to sound issues.

Have that issue? Simple fix. Find your installation folder of Vegastrike and delete the wrap_oal.dll This file and the latest openal32.dll are installed when you run the vegastrike installer. Hope this fixes everyone!

  0.5.1 beta1 Release Saturday, March 12, 2011, 19:07:44
0.5.1 beta1 Released

These last few days we've been working hard to push a new release after so long.

Today we can announce we finally did.

We've packaged it for many linux distributions and windows already, mac is on the works.

The list of changes is big and still being compiled, but it includes music improvements, sound improvements, long standing bugs have been fixed, lots of minor bugs too, and heavy graphical improvements have been made in general.

Check out the announcement post on the forums, and please do report bugs, that's what betas are for :)

Vega Strike Ships in OurBricks Thursday, January 20, 2011, 20:56:38
I am working on a project called OurBricks which aims to make sharing 3D content on the web easier. The site is built on HTML5 and WebGL tech so from a modern webbrowser you can experience the 3D without any additional plugins or install. Since we're hoping to one day use an engine in WebGL to run the entire Vega Strike game this can serve as an early proof of concept to show how well the art works on the web.

And now for the Pacifier, a mainstay of the purist military undergoing phased decommissioning. Here the actual game model is embedded:

The fine folks at Privateer Gold have released a new version of Privateer Gold using the latest Vega Strike engine, with heavily modified graphics and video play subsystems since version 0.5.0. The new release includes more in-game speech, better resolution graphics, a number of improved UI interactivity and gameplay features.
If you've never tried any mods of the Vega Strike engine, this is a perfect opportunity to introduce yourself to the gritty privateer gameplay at the edge of the Gemini sector.
